Wellsite Safety Programs
There were two Marcellus shale well blowouts in Pennsylvania and West Virginia in June 2010. Though a 1 in 1,000 occurrence, these incidents made it imperative for the shale operators to help develop wellsite hazards response training for emergency First Responders.
Our Houston and Pittsburgh teams worked with Pennsylvania State Fire Commissioner staff to implement a series of interactive train-the-trainer workshops, to help rollout a Wellsite Emergency Response Training Program across the Commonwealth. To date over 4,000 Pennsylvania First Responders have received the training. Details available at: http://www.osfc.state.pa.us/
The program is underwritten by the Marcellus Shale Coalition (MSC) and the Pennsylvania Independent Oil and Gas Association (PIOGA), where we are active on the Safety Committee.
The core material has been enhanced with OSHA, RigPass and SafeLand content to be acceptable for operator new hires, drilling rig personnel and oilfield service onboarding programs.
